Glasgow Science Centre
Three separate attractions housed in one of Glasgow's newest architectural landmarks on the Clyde. The Science Mall has hundreds of hands-on exhibits, science shows and workshops and a planetarium; the IMAX cinema shows 3D films as well as some new family releases on its super-sized screen; and the Glasgow Tower, Scotland's tallest freestanding building, which has recently reopened. Although most popular with children aged 7-11, there is plenty here for teens and younger kids too. Although there's no softplay area at the moment, toddlers will enjoy messing about with mirrors, musical instruments and other exhibits in the Science Mall. There are regular craft and science-based activities, and special events with animals (lambs and rabbits at Easter, reptiles and bugs in the summer) are always popular.
The shop has a good range of science-related and educational toys as well as plenty of books and pocket-money favourites too. There are two cafe areas - one for hot meals and sandwiches, the other for light snacks.
