Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

This fantastic museum and art gallery is the most popular in the UK outside London, and reopened on 11 July 2006 following a £35 million refurbishment. With everything from a Spitfire hung from the ceiling to Sir Roger the stuffed elephant, Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross to an entire room of Mackintosh furniture and artworks, there is plenty to enjoy for all age groups. Children will particularly enjoy the dinosaurs, fossils and other prehistoric remains, plus Egyptian items including mummies, and lots of Scottish wildlife too. The displays are easy to follow and will help families find something new to discover at every visit. All the rooms are arranged to tell particular stories rather than just the 'history' of an aspect of the world. There's even a special 'Mini Museum' for pre-5s and activity trails for families to follow. Next to Kelvingrove Park
